Code of Conduct / Harassment Policy
The National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG) is committed to providing a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for all participants in ASBOG sponsored activities and meetings.
1. Scope and Applicability
This policy applies to all event registrants, speakers, guests, volunteers, exhibitors, staff, contractors, and service providers participating in any ASBOG meeting, workshop, or related committee activity.
2. Expected Behavior
All participants are expected to:
- Exercise professional courtesy, respect, and consideration in their interactions with others.
- Avoid demeanour, speech, or actions that could be construed as harassing, bullying, or discriminatory.
- Respect the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of fellow geologists, board members, and guests.
- Promptly report any behavior that violates these standards to the ASBOG Executive Committee or event coordinators.
3. Prohibited Behavior
ASBOG® does not tolerate inappropriate behavior or harassment of any kind. Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Harassment, bullying, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or professional status.
- Unwelcome physical contact, sexual attention, or suggestive comments.
- Intimidating, threatening, or abusive speech or actions.
- Disruption of scientific workshops, examinations development sessions, or business proceedings.
4. Reporting and Enforcement
If you experience or witness a violation of this policy, please notify an Executive Committee officer immediately. All reports will be handled with appropriate confidentiality.
The Executive Committee is responsible for ensuring an environment free of harassment and will take immediate corrective action if improper conduct occurs. Violations may result in removal from the meeting without refund and restriction from attending future ASBOG events.
