ASBOG® Mission Statement
"ASBOG's mission is to advance licensure examinations for geologists and geoscientists to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of the public."
Core Objectives
To support this mission, the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG®) focuses on the following pillars of service:
Rigorous Examinations
Developing and delivering scientifically validated, psychometrically sound licensing examinations (the FG and PG exams) that uniformly test minimum competency.
Mobility & Availability
Facilitating the transfer of examination scores and licensing qualifications across member jurisdictions to promote professional mobility for practicing geologists.
Academic Support
Fostering high-quality academic training and providing benchmarking tools (such as CPAT) to assist colleges and universities in aligning geosciences curricula with professional standards.
Connective Network
Serving as a unified link among individual state geology boards to help them discharge their duties and enforce uniform standards of practice.
Important Notice for Candidates
Please note that ASBOG® is a testing services association and does not directly license or register geologists. Licensure is granted legally by individual State Member Boards. Candidates must apply directly to their respective state licensing board to qualify for examination and licensure.
